RSA Academy is a highly regarded and desirable 11-18 community school and were judged by OFSTED as a ‘GOOD’ school in June 2016.

As a result of expansion due to increased demand in our local community we are looking to recruit an outstanding and forward thinking individual with a proven track record of leadership at senior level.

We are looking for an effective and flexible senior leader as we reshape our leadership team to meet the changing needs of our Academy and community.

We are keen to recruit a colleague with experience from any of the following (non-exhaustive list) areas:

  • Teaching, learning and assessment
  • Leadership development
  • Curriculum design
  • Raising achievement/student progress
  • Quality assurance and self-evaluation
  • Inclusion SEND

On appointment, the job description and tasks will be reviewed to reflect the successful candidate’s strengths, the professional development of all Senior Leadership Team members and Academy priorities as defined in the Academy Development Plan and the Raising Achievement Plan.  Further guidance on the specific actions required to carry out allocated responsibilities will be negotiated with the Principal. There is an opportunity for a successful candidate to take on responsibility for the Teaching School Alliance across the Family of Academies.

 

You will have:

·       QTS

·       Substantial experience at leadership level

·       NPQSL or equivalent evidence of CPDL (desirable)

·       High aspirations for achievement and personal development of students

·       Excellent subject knowledge

·       Experience of driving up the quality of teaching and learning

·       Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong ability to self reflect

·       Experience of designing and developing resources to support learning

·       Highly effective communication skills, oral and written, plus confidence to present to groups of governors, staff and students

·       Capacity to form positive learning-centred relationships with our professionals at different stages in their careers

We are seeking an outstanding, ambitious Curriculum Lead with a track record of enabling high achievement, and the ability to work successfully, developing others, as part of a large team. Our Maths department consists of a Lead Practitioner, a Key Stage 3 Lead and an enthusiastic team of hardworking teachers. Our Mathematics GCSE results have been steadily improving over the past six years, but unfortunately results across the Academy fell in August 2016. This is something we as a maths team, are collaboratively working with other departments across the Academy to recover from this academic year.

 

We deliver mathematics to mixed ability groups in KS3 (years 7 & 8) in KS4 we follow the AQA GCSE (9-1) Mathematics 8300 specification and for our KS5 students we deliver the International Baccalaureate in Maths Studies and Higher Level, as well as GCSE Maths resit for those who need to.

 

The RSA Academy is an 11 – 18 school that opened in September 2008 and moved into a £32million new build in September 2010 and due to expansion our new £5 million Key Stage 3 block will be completed for September 2017.  Sponsored by the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, we benefit from access to 28,000 fellows across the world.  The Academy is part of the RSA family of schools and RSA Teaching School Alliance.
