Uniform information and guidance:

Years 7 – 11

Students in Years 7-11 are expected to wear the Academy uniform which is in keeping with the smart, professional image we want all our Academy community to portray. Uniform can be purchased from:

Uniform should at all times be neat, clean and smart – only the items listed below are allowable:

Boys

  • RSA Academy blazer with Academy badge
  • RSA Academy tie with House colour (Blue: Shipley, Yellow: Romney, Green: Adam)
  • White shirt
  • Smart, black, tailored full length trousers (no denim)
  • Plain black or grey socks
  • Plain black shoes (no logos or markings)
  • Plain black V neck sweater (optional)
  • Black coat with logo no bigger than credit card size
  • School bags should be plain black with no obvious logos or markings

Girls

  • RSA Academy blazer with Academy badge
  • RSA Academy tie with House colour (Blue: Shipley, Yellow: Romney, Green: Adam)
  • White shirt or blouse (plain blouse), no ‘open neck’
  • Smart black full length tailored trousers, or
  • Smart black tailored knee length skirts
  • Thick black or plain flesh-coloured tights
  • Plain black or grey socks
  • Plain black low-heeled shoes (no logos/markings, no Ugg boots)
  • Plain black V neck sweater (optional)
  • Black coat with logo no bigger than credit card size
  • School bags should be plain black with no obvious logos or markings

The following points of clarification should be noted:

  • Students are allowed to wear a maximum of one pair of small, plain metal (silver/gold) stud earrings in the lobe of the ears and a wrist watch (plastic spacers are not permitted).
  • No make-up or facial piercings of any description.
  • Clothing should be clean, tidy and neat – all shirts must be tucked in and top buttons fastened.
  • Sandals, of any type and backless shoes should not be worn.
  • PE clothing (as described below) should only be worn during PE lessons/Enrichment or when representing the Academy in sporting events.
  • Items other than those listed in the uniform list should not be worn.
  • Hair should be neat, tidy and safe with no extremes of fashion – tramlines and/or patterns are not allowed. Where hair is coloured, it should be natural shades only.
  • Baseball caps or other hats should not be worn inside the Academy buildings and grounds.

Boys and Girls Sports Kit

  • RSA Academy rugby shirt and/or RSA Academy polo shirt
  • Black rugby socks with gold stripe turnover
  • Black shorts
  • Training shoes or football boots as appropriate
  • Plain black tracksuits (optional)

Years 12 – 13

To reflect the level of maturity expected of students, Years 12 & 13 are permitted to wear their own smart business dress in line with the staff dress code.

Boys

  • Are required to wear a sensible shirt and tie with tailored trousers and plain black shoes.

Girls

  • Are required to wear smart tailored clothes (blouse, skirt or trousers) suitable for an office environment.
  • Denim of any sort is not allowed and shoes must be plain black.
  • Vests, strappy or backless tops are not permitted.
  • Skirts must be knee length.
  • Jewellery must be small and kept to a minimum.
  • Leggings or knee  length trousers are not permitted.
  • Shoes must meet Health and Safety regulations and therefore should not be open-toed.

Jewellery

  • Excess/unacceptable jewellery (hoops, nose studs, spacers etc) is confiscated by staff, placed in an envelope with the name and form of the student and handed into the Success Centre at the earliest opportunity.
  • Students are able collect their jewellery at the end of each week or their parents may collect it for them at the end of the day.

Mobile Phones

The use of mobile devices is only permitted at lunchtime and in lesson, when specifically instructed by a member of teaching staff.

These items will be confiscated from those students who are found to be using them under any other circumstances.

If a student has their phone confiscated by a member of staff for the first time they can collect it at the end of the day from Reception. However, if they have it confiscated a second or any subsequent times we ask that parents come into the Academy and go to Reception to collect it.

Please note: phones confiscated for a second or subsequent times can only be collected by parents after 4.00pm.
